Bliss Balls

 Bliss Balls……..

Perfect name for a delicious, nutritious, health snack/ treat…

What I like about bliss balls is that the possibilities are endless, you can create a new recipe each time according to what is available in your pantry you  or what you fancy.

Last night, I had the privilege to prepare a raw food tasting for a Charity called Indian-kids. This charity helps one of Mother Theresa home in Delhi which takes care of handicapped children.

The tasting took place after one my sister’s yoga class, rightly named Karma yoga, with an emphasis on “Anahata” the heart chakra to develop the notion of compassion…

The yogi and yoginis ( Yeah only one guy!!!) had that look on their face when the came out of the studio: tired, relaxed, smiling => I love that feeling ♥♥♥ still they were hungry!

When I was planning this tasting, I decided to make a buffet with finger foods: raw pizza, nori rolls, zucchini ( or courgettes depending on what side of the Atlantic Ocean you are (: ) bites and houmous with plenty raw veggies and a refreshing carrots, ginger and lemon juice… I will post the recipes later for each!

But when it came to add a touch of sweetness on the menu, I had to forget about everybody’s beloved raw chocolate, as I ran out of cacao butter. So I went for Bliss Balls instead, because I wanted to show the people present that it was a very healthy snack.

All in all, the event was a success people were touched by the work of the charity and they really enjoyed the raw buffet!!! Some of them knew about Raw food, but some knew nothing about it and they all liked it. So, once again I was really pleased to share my knowledge and the benefits of a healthy diet…

Now let’s talk business! How to make bliss balls:

The base for the bliss balls are nuts and something sweet and something to hold everything together… Pretty simple, hey!

I made two types of Bliss Balls:

Lemon, Coconut and Maca

1 cup of cashew

1 cup of almonds ( soaked and dehydrated)

The zest of a lemon

The juice of 1/2 lemon

2 t of date paste

2 T of coconut oil

1 t of Maca powder

1 pinch of Himalayan pink salt

Process the nuts, then add the remaining ingredients, process again… Add a little bit of water to help the dough to form a ball.

Then roll in a ball the size you want and coat with shredded coconut. If you can resist, it keeps in the fridge for a few days.

Brazil nuts, matcha, cranberries and sesame

1 cup of Brazil nuts

1 cup of cashews

1T of agave or maple or coco palm nectar

1/2 cups of dehydrated cranberries

2 t of matcha

2 T of cacao butter, that how small my stock was… :(

1 pinch of Himalayan pink salt

Same method as above!

Sorry, my camera ran out of battery as I was making them, so You will only see the final result.

PS: to all the mamas out there, kids love to roll bliss balls… it is a little like playdoh!
